The magazine is easy and simple load, simple to put in and out of rifle. Wish that two of the magazines came with the rifle as in places they are hard to find, as a lot of retailers don’t carry them, like the retailer where I purchased the rifle. The rifle is a blast to shoot, has great accuracy right out of the box, like the open sights, wish the sights had white on the front blade making easy to see, smooth trigger, especially the loading mechanism simple, not a bunch of moving parts to fail. I’m very pleased with this rifle, just like all the other crosman products that I’ve bought over the years, still make a good quality product.

I’m extremely disappointed in the design of the 10 round cartridge. The plastic tabs separating each pellet break off and cause the gun to not reload properly. It would be nice to see a metal cartridge that would be stronger and allow the unit to spool correctly. The picture shows one tab left because the rest have broken off and now to load the gun you need a pair of needle nose pliers to get one pellet in the barrel for each shot. Would NOT buy this again!!!!

Not good first thing out of the box a piece of plastic broke off and has to be repaired or replaced?

One of the worst purchases I have ever made! I’m now on my third, that’s right, THIRD one of these cheap magazines. I guess there are two types, broken ones and ones that are going to break.
Also the rifle cannot hold zero no matter what I try, with scope or open sights, I think it’s on and 3 shots latter it’s all over the place.
Save yourself some anguish and shop around.

I recently bought the .22 cal mag fire extreme nitro piston elite. I see others have had some bad experiences with this so adding my own for comparison. I have had the rifle for a week and have put about 200 rounds through it with no mechanical issues. The rotary magazine works just fine; making sure you are using a .22 pellet that fits into the magazine (some larger/longer magnum pellets will not fit, but most varieties will fit). Certainly, any plastic magazine could have defects and due to the material it is important that the round are loaded into the magazine properly and that it is fully seated into the slot so you don’t cause a misalignment that could damage or destroy the magazine. Issues with the magazine are, in my opinion, more likely a result of operator error than anything else.
As for notes of not holding zero, I did run into similar issues at first – but as I became more acclimated with the platform and how it responds to the recoil, the problems with not holding zero can easily be resolved by adjusting how you handle the weapon. Most people, myself included, will have the initial inclination to shoulder the stock firmly to try to "control" the recoil – but you can’t control or "stop" the recoil no matter how tightly you hold it to your shoulder, and it will make your shoulder the fulcrum of the recoil movement, which causes the muzzle to jump up or to the side; thus throwing your shot off and making it very difficult to zero. So, I adjusted how I handle it by shouldering the stock loosely, and steadying it with my supporting hand at the very front of the frame body to minimize any jumping of the muzzle – the idea is to allow the recoil to push the rifle straight back so you don’t get a jump that throws your shot off.
Overall I love the platform and the convenience of the rotary magazine, and the more I practice with it the more familiar I become with how it responds based on how I am handling it, and the repeatability has improved immensely. Happy plinking folks 🙂

Overall I like the rifle. The forestock is flat for shooting from a rest, the two stage trigger breaks cleanly & the accuracy is excellent.
However, the magazine started binding after six shots before I’d shot 1,500 pellets (3 500 rounds tins) & new ones are out of stock. Without a magazine the rifle is useless. I expected better.

So I bought this rife and the second shot right out of the box the mag failed and took out the center so now it allows two pellets on one slide so it’s useless now. This mag design is not good. I’m very disappointed as I’ve always owned this brand and have been happy in the past.

So this thing failed the first time. Failed to advance and when attempting to load the rifle, it sheered off the divider between pellets, which caused the next pellet to half load and jam in the rifle. This was after the third shot out of a brand new Mag fire Extreme .22 cal.

I shot two full magazines then the lock function on the magazine stopped working. And now I check on the crosman website to order some and it’s out of stock. The rifle needs a magazine to function, perhaps make a better quality one or have a bunch for sale for a very cheap price. I like the rifle but will probably return it because of this.

I was given the gun by my son for Christmas, I read the reviews before using and seen the issues with the chips and what not to do. Clip still broke on me. New clips are out of stock and no word on when they will be available again. How about a refund on the gun?
.177 Crosman Magfire.
Brion –
Very unhappy with this magazine. The dividers between the pellet sheer off way too easily. It’s made of low quality plastic which mars quickly. We’ve had it for 48 hours and almost all the dividers are broken. Now I see here it’s out of stock. Hopefully the company is redesigning this, so that these problems go away and they’re going to provide a redesigned mag soon. The gun is useless without the mag as the reloading chamber is blocked by the forestock when the barrel is broken. So if the mass breaks, I will be returning this forthwith.

Great it is Easier than gamo Swarm second generation X ten I’m 79 years old and I could not cock the gamo without setting it on the floor and pushing on the barrel with both hands. So I gave it to one of my grandsons and Bought magfire. And I can cock it with out a Problem. Great rife so far thank you God bless
James Mcgalliard –
It works grate. I advise other to bye extreme magazine for ther mag-fire crossman air rifle
Kyle –
Personally this is garbage. I they should design it out of some type of metal rather then out of some third world plastic. Never even made it through the first ten shots before it starting having problems and it sheers off the plastic. So when you think it loaded one cause the number on the dial changes you end up dry firing it which is the worst thing you can do. The design of the gun is built for this magazine because unless you have 1” hands it nearly impossible to single load it. So I recommend you buy about thirty of these cheap plastic p.o.s. Things. Usually crosman doesn’t drop the ball on production but some body definitely didn’t do the field testing on it. But hopefully they come out with one that isn’t plastic. I mean the gun weighs 9 pounds for Christ sakes. It’s definitely a stout gun so why cut the corner when it came to the mag? I would give zero stars if possible so when purchasing this gun make sure to waste your money and buy these because you will end up going through them as fast as you shot the pellets.

I have both 177 and 22 cals, they both work great shoot hard and straight, no problems at all. Very accurate I bought a extra mag for both from Amazon. But the ones that came with. The rifles are fine. No issues .
DARIN HERNDON –
I was really surprised to come on here and see how many other people have had the same experience with the prongs plastic cartridge / dial breaking off, I guess as a result of the minimal recoil. It doesn’t seem like it would take a rocket scientist to understand that a mild steel or even aluminum dial would be much better and durable for this application. Perhaps the manufacturer does not want to risk metal shavings getting into the barrel(?). At any rate, I really like the way the rifle shoots, and I have only had it for (6) weeks. I was a perennial Expert marksman in the Army, so that’s never a problem…but I am really disappointed in this inferior mag design, as well as the fact that it does not look to be available with a metal dial. Please advise on what you can do for all of us in this boat!!!

The item was out of stock but shipped promptly when it became available. I have yet to use the rifle or the magazine yet . I am looking forward to plinking with it when Spring comes to NY .

Broke on first use.
Floyd Johnson –
These things break easily. I have two of them that are broken.

I bought the .22 break barrel this winter to keep rabbits out of the garden. Got it out for the first time last week to get is sighted in and the plastic prongs on the 10 round magazine broke on the 3rd shot. I had only heard good things about Crosman, but this has turned me off to their products. Hopefully the customer service department is better than the quality control department.
John Coots –
Excellent choice
Karson Bensley –
Should be made of metal
Scott –
Just purchased the Mag Fire .22 caliber rifle. After 3 shots, the magazine broke! So now what??? I can’t even purchase a new one from Crossman….they are out of stock. Honestly this is no surprise after reading the reviews. The reviews are horrid!!!!!
Brian –
I came here to get a new mag because the one that came with my riffle broke. Hopefully, they can fix the issues.
Kevin Hogberg –
Was just checking Crosman Canada, I prepaid for 2 replacements last week.
Was checking on my order and web site said available……
Wow. I guess mine are on the way, no e mail or anything from them.
Guess we will see,

The magazine that was with the gun works great. The 2 that i purchased broke the first time i used them. (The edges broke where the pellets set in place. Very disappointed with this product.
Henry Vetter –
After 8 days of paying I had to email customer service. The next day they replied that the magazines I ordered were on back order. Every other place I have ordered from said the item was out of stock and backordered but not crosman, they just take your money and don’t say anything.
Eric Killough –
Very satisfied. I Don’t know why people are having trouble with them. Follow instructions, use adequate pellets, handle with care.
Timothy Loomis –
After spending over $200 on what I thought was a quality product I am completely dissatisfied with what I received. With the very first few shots I noticed the chamber is minutely smaller than a standard .177 cal. pellet. As a result the aft millimeter of the pellet was getting trimmed off and left outside the chamber. After a few shots, it was noticed that no projectile was exiting the barrel resulting in the damaged pellets becoming lodged in the barrel. I now have a completely non functional device with pellets plugging the barrel and not being able to clear it. The design of the Plastic sights, cocking, magazine, and loading system have serious issues. Truly sad that a company none for years to produce a quality product could have fallen so far. I believed when I purchased this product I was going to receive a high quality precise pellet rifle, man was I mistaken.
